The Pearl Harts
Clit Rock raises money for the Daughters of Eve charity that campaigns to end Female Genital Mutilation and helps protect women at risk of it. DOE co-founder and CEO Nimko Ali said that the rock nights have been instrumental in getting the issue of FGM out in the open. The event, at Roadtrip & The Workshop in London, was a gathering of some amazingly talented musicians.
The Pearl Harts
First on were The Pearl Harts, a punchy guitar/drums duo who owned the place with their memorable riffs, great drumming and high-energy set. Guitarist/singer Kirsty aced it on her Gibson SG which she told us later is a vintage guitar from ‘72. They’ve got a new single and video coming out next month.
Dana Jade, Daisy Palmer, Suza Sputnik
Dana Jade who was organising the night, played with some new band members - bassist Suza Sputnik (ex The Priscillas) and drummer Daisy Palmer who also plays with artists such as Goldfrapp, and Tinie Tempah.
Dana Jade & Suza Sputnik
Dana Jade is a fabulous and fierce Strat-rocking singer and blasted out attitudinal ‘bluesy punk ‘n’ roll’. Her set featured songs from her Dana Jade album, a hard and fast punked up cover of MIA’s Galang and tracks that went from soca to punk and got everyone dancing. She finished with a storming She Or I Go - about a menage a trois gone very very wrong.
Ros from Deux Furieuses
We’ve featured Deux Furieuses before and they just go from strength to strength with a live sound that pins you to the wall. I Want My Life Back is a totally standout tune.
Vas from Deux Furieuses
Ros gets a massive sound from her Hagstrom guitar, and Vas’s drumming was making seasoned music critics’ jaws drop. She plays a vintage Remo Quadura kit. They’ve been working on a new album with PJ Harvey producer Rob Ellis, and we can’t wait to hear it!
