Brothers William and Theobald Ludwig started their drum and percussion empire by creating what was then the fastest bass drum pedal in the world in a barn in Chicago. They rapidly expanded their range, and now supply everything from custom kits to mallet percussion such as vibraphones, marimbas, chimes and bells, catering to both rock and classical musicians. At the height of their fame in the 60s Ludwig drums were played by the likes of Ringo Starr, Ian Paice and Ginger Baker. More recently Meg White and Fab Moretti of the Strokes have used their products, as well as Patrick Carney of The Black Keys who designed a special set.
