Supro guitars and amps were first made in the US in the 1930s and were designed as a mid-range series for working musicians. Guitars included Spanish style, steel guitars and later electric. Jimmy Hendrix’s first electric guitar was a 1957 Supro Ozark, and Jimmy Page also played a Supro. Production stopped in 1968 and originals have become collectors items. Zinky Electronics revived the brand in 2004 as a high-quality US-made line, producing guitars and amplifiers in the Supro tradition.
