GarageBand has a suite of music-making tools and recording features, including a sound library with software instruments, presets for guitar and voice, and virtual session drummers. You can play, record, share, and learn with some of the onboard lessons, and music hits.
The Drummer feature is a virtual session player created using some of the industry’s top session drummers and recording engineers. Each drummer has a customised kit, delivers his or her own signature sound, and takes your direction. You control everything from the groove to the drums they play using easy visual controls - select any drummer to preview his or her distinct style in the rock, alternative, songwriter or R&B genre. With GarageBand 10.1 there are 10 new EDM and Hip Hop drummers and 20 new electronic drum kits in addition to acoustic beats.
Other features include 100 new EDM and Hip Hop-inspired synthesizer patches, featuring a new Morph Pad Smart Control for easy sound sculpting. Plus 1,000 new loops from a variety of popular instruments and genres, including EDM, Hip Hop, Indie, Disco, Funk and Blues.
There is support for Force Touch, with the ability to activate commands and receive haptic feedback using a force click on the Mac trackpad. Also new is direct sharing capability from GarageBand to Apple Music Connect via iOS app (coming soon for Mac). iCloud allows you to keep your GarageBand sessions up to date across all your Mac computers. Available from iTunes and from the Mac App Store.
