Evans invented the synthetic weatherproof drumhead in 1956 and makes a wide range of drumheads from drumset to marching, conga and bongo. It is currently owned by D’Addario and manufactures its range in Farmingdale NY. They are used by drummers such as Phil Rudd from AC/DC, Dave Lombardo from Slayer, Daru Jones from Jack White and The Ruff Pack, Kim Thompson who plays with Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Dom Famularo, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Leo Weston from Whales in Cubicles, and Two Wounded Birds’ James Shand.
