This is a vintage sounding microphone that gives a telephone-like quality. Unlike full-range microphones, the Copperphone is designed to operate within a limited bandwidth of frequencies giving it a distinct, nostalgic character similar to an AM radio or a telephone. The sound is filtered through various vintage components and a hollow resonant chamber that accentuates the upper mid frequencies, reducing the low and high (much like talking through a toilet roll tube). Fitted with an XLR connector, this is great for getting unusual recordings, interesting spoken word, more realistic vintage sounds, or colouring an existing recording session with something a little bit different.
