Founded in the late eighties by B. Andrew Barta, this was originally meant as a project for his personal use. As a performing musician with an electronics background he just wanted to get the best possible tone for his own music, but what started as a small concept soon grew into a revolution. The SansAmp technology, for which Tech 21 is most famous, was due to be sold to large manufacturers, but when they couldn’t foresee its potential, Andrew decided to go into business himself. Two decades later, Tech 21 offers a range of products including effects pedals, amps and speakers for both guitarists and bassists.
