The legendary Gibson ES-335 was launched in 1958 and was the first thinline arched-top semi-acoustic electric. Many different versions have been produced since then including custom and reissue series, as well as signature models from the likes of Dave Grohl and Eric Clapton. It’s designed to produce a warmer tone than a solid-body, and with minimal feedback. It features two humbucking pickups and in some models these can be switched to single coil. Used in rock, blues and jazz, players include B.B. King, Noel Gallagher from Oasis, and Johnny Marr who used it for early live work.
