A 73 note electric grand piano, which unlike a digital piano, has hammers and strings with pickups underneath them, much like a guitar. This was popular during the 1970s and 80s, although it became less widespread with the advent of the digital piano. Similar to a Fender-Rhodes or a Wurlitzer, the tone of the instrument is warm and percussive although the only drawback is that whilst it is lighter than a grand piano, it is still very heavy- clocking in at 130-140kg. This is the same keyboard as used by Keane in most of their music, and has also been used by Coldplay.
